Deacons at Webster Groves Christian Church are responsible for the preparation and service of communion for all worship services. Communion is central to every worship service at WGCC and in the Disciples of Christ denomination. Our tradition is an “open table” where all are invited to partake of food and drink which symbolizes God’s sacrifice and our remembrance as believers.

Members of the Diaconate are nominated by committee, approved by the Church Board and voted on by the congregation for a 2 year term. There is a Moderator and Vice-Moderator of the Diaconate chosen by its’ members who do training, scheduling and serve as liaisons to the Board, Council of Ministries and the Ministers. There are small teams of deacons that rotate schedules weekly or monthly for the worship services. Currently, there are 26 members of the Diaconate.
