The Music Ministry of Webster Groves Christian Church is dedicated to the sharing of the Good News and the act of worshipping our Creator. A sincere desire to serve the church and an interest in music are all that are necessary to be a part of this ministry. WGCC’s ensembles consist of all volunteers. The fact that the music program is vibrant and growing can be attributed to several factors:
1) We believe there IS Good News to share!
2) While we all have a desire to give our best and continually strive for (and achieve!) excellence, this generally happens because, at WGCC, the people are more important than the music.
3) We have a great deal of fun doing what we do, and we'd like to think this lends to a feeling of joy and commitment when you attend one of our rehearsals or hear us offer music during Worship.
Chancel Choir (Charles Peery)
The Chancel Choir is an SATB (Soprano Alto Tenor Bass) choir that leads the 9 AM worship service each Sunday. We experience five centuries of great choral music. A gamut of styles insures variety and resonance with the members of our choir and our worship community.
Rehearsal: Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.
Play: Traditional Worship Service on Sundays at 9 AM
Celebration Ringers Handbell Choir (Charles Peery)
The Celebration Ringers utilize a 3-octave set of hand bells (3 octaves of hand chimes are also used). Some prior music reading experience or experience playing hand bells is required for membership.
Rehearsal: Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.
Play: On major festival days and periodically throughout the year.
Wind of the Spirit. (Charles Peery)
Wind of the Spirit is a contemporary worship ensemble consisting of keyboard, guitar, bass, vocalists, and percussionists. Responsible for leading the singing at our casual worship service, Wind of the Spirit also provides special music for other worship services throughout the year. Other instrumentalists and vocalists are welcome; because of the limited rehearsal time and high musical ability of the members of this group, potential participants may want to let us know of their skills and experience.
Rehearsal: Sundays at 10 am prior to the service, and as arranged.
Play: Weekly at Contemporary Worship Service on Sundays at 11:10 AM
Instrumentalists are always in demand to lend variety and color to our worship. If you have prior instrumental experience, please let us know if you’d be willing to participate from time to time! Contact Charles Peery at (314) 961-3232, or Email: Chuck
